KATHIAWADI  ONION DAHI TIKHARI 


INGREDIENTS 

Chopped Onion - 2
Garlic Cloves - 10
Red Chilli Powder - 3 Tsp 
Chopped Green Chillies - 6
Cumin Powder - 1/2 Tsp 
Coriander Powder - 1 Tsp
Garam Masala Powder - 1/2 Tsp 
Curd - 2 cups
Salt - To Taste

INGREDIENTS TO TEMPER

Mustard Seeds - 1 Tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 Tsp 
Asafoetida - A Pinch
Coconut Oil - 3 Tbsp 
Chopped Curry Leaves - 1 Tbsp
Chopped Coriander Leaves - 2 Tbsp 

METHOD 

Whisk curd and keep aside
Pound garlic cloves with spice powders
Set aside until use
Heat oil in a pan
Add ingredients to temper
Add the sliced onion and sauté until golden 
Add half of the chopped green chillies 
Add the pounded paste and salt to taste
Sauté until raw smell is no more
Add half of the chopped curry leaves
Remove pan from stove 
Leave as such until warm 
Pour whisked curd into the pan and mix 
Transfer onion dahi tikhari to a serving bowl
Garnish with chopped coriander and chillies 
Serve hot with white rice

Notes :
Adjust spices to suit your taste 
A famous dish from Kathiawar, Gujarat 
Mustard oil is used in the original recipe
