RAW JACKFRUIT CHIPS



RAW JACKFRUIT CHIPS

INGREDIENTS 

Raw Jackfruit - 1
Turmeric Powder - 1 Tsp 
Salt - To Taste
Oil - To Fry

SPICE POWDER FOR DUSTING 

Asafoetida - A Pinch 
Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 Tbsp 
Black Pepper Powder - 1/2 Tbsp
Salt - To Taste

Mix all of the above ingredients in a bowl
Set aside until used 

METHOD 

Cut clean latex remove pith core and seeds from jackfruit bulbs 
Cut each bulb into medium sized strips
In a bowl to turmeric powder add some water and mix well
Sprinkle turmeric water over the strips of raw jackfruit and mix well
Heat oil in a frying pan in medium flame 
Dissolve salt to taste in 1/4 cup of water and set aside in a bowl 
Add the strips in batches and fry until crisp
A few seconds before removing chips from the pan lower flame and sprinkle some salt water over the chips in pan
Oil will splutter as you do so but will subsidies in a few seconds 
Remove chips from the frying pan drain oil and place in a bowl 
Sprinkle the spice powder mix immediately over the chips shake well and set aside to cool 
Once cool to room temperature store in an air tight container 

Notes:

I used half of a medium sized jackfruit to make jackfruit chips
Adjust spices to suit your taste
