Dates And Raisins Chutney
Ingredients
Dates - 250 gms
Raisins - 50 gms
Chilli Powder - 2 Tsp
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 Tsp
Salt - To Taste
Vinegar - 1 Tsp
Grated Jaggery - 2 Tsp
Coconut Oil - 2 Tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 Tsp
Curry Leaves - 1 sprig
Method
Soak dates and raisins for four hours
Mash a few dates and set aside
Grind the remaining dates and raisins till soft
Heat oil in a pan
Add mustard seeds and curry leaves
Once they burst add ginger garlic paste
Add chilli powder and sauté till raw smell is no more
Add the mashed dates and ground paste
Mix well and add salt to taste
Sauté in medium flame for nearly 5 minutes
Add the grated jaggery and simmer for two minutes
Switch off flame add vinegar mix and cook at room temperature
Store in a sterilised bottle
Notes
This chutney can be used as a spread
Best side dish for Biriyani
Adjust the amount of chilli powder to suit your taste
Grated jaggery is optional
